What Are Cheek Fillers?
Cheek fillers are a popular non-surgical facial enhancement treatment designed to restore volume, lift, and contour your cheeks. This minimally invasive procedure can rejuvenate your appearance to give you a more youthful and refreshed look.
What Is Cheek Filler Used For?
Over time, our faces can lose their youthful fullness, leading to a sagging or deflated appearance. This is often caused by the gradual shifting of facial fats and the loss of collagen, which gives the face its firm, plump look.
As we get older, the support structure of the face weakens, leading to changes in the distribution of facial fat around the cheeks, mouth, eyes, forehead, and temples over time.
Our cheeks may start to droop and retract, creating a sunken look beneath the eyes, also known as the ‘tear trough’ area. Additionally, our lips can lose their plumpness, making vertical lines more visible and giving an aged appearance to the face.
At RENA, we carry out cheek filler treatment to counter these natural processes. Our treatments involve the use of dermal fillers to add volume to your cheekbones, restoring youthful plumpness to your cheeks and accentuating their natural structure.
Dermal fillers can be used to address a number of concerns in the cheek area:
Volume Loss
Restoration of lost volume due to aging or weight loss
Flat or Sunken Cheeks
Add contour and definition to flat or sunken cheek areas
Fine Lines and Wrinkles
Smoothing out of fine lines and wrinkles around the cheek area
Facial Symmetry
Improvement of facial balance and symmetry for a more harmonious look
Sagging Skin
Uplift and firm sagging skin to provide a more youthful appearance
What Are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers contain hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in our bodies, particularly in connective tissues and skin. Hyaluronic acid is known for its ability to hold moisture, providing hydration and volume to the skin. Some dermal fillers may also contain collagen-stimulating ingredients like poly-L-lactic acid or CaHA (calcium hydroxylapatite), which encourage the body’s own collagen production over time.
Are Dermal Fillers Safe?
Dermal fillers are a highly safe and effective technique when administered by qualified professionals.
Efficacy studies have shown that these fillers can significantly improve facial volume and reduce the appearance of wrinkles, offering results that can last anywhere from several months to over a year depending on the product used and individual factors.
It is important that your healthcare practitioner has a detailed understanding of the skin and face to ensure safe utilisation of dermal fillers.
At RENA Clinics, we only use the highest quality filler products (Juvederm and Restylene), to achieve the best results and ensure your safety is not compromised.
What Does the Procedure Involve?
Consultation
Initially, a thorough consultation is conducted to understand your aesthetic goals and assess your facial structure. This step is crucial, as it allows our Dermatologists to tailor the treatment specifically to your desired outcomes. It is also important to understand whether your facial structure is suitable and whether the desired result is achievable.
Treatment
Topical anaesthetic may be applied to minimise any discomfort during the procedure. The filler, typically composed of hyaluronic acid or collagen-stimulating agents, is then carefully injected into specific areas of the cheeks using fine needles.
Treatment sites are accessed using one opening on each side of the cheeks to reach all areas and fill the filler beneath the skin. This reduces the risk of bruising, swelling, and vascular complications.
After filling and massaging both sides of the cheeks, you will see instant plumpness, contour, and structure added to your cheekbones. The procedure will take around 20 minutes from start to finish and most patients feel minimal to no pain. There is no major downtime or significant swelling or bruising, enabling you to continue as normal post-procedure.
Post-Treatment Care
You can resume your everyday activities after the treatment. Your dermatologist will discuss a comprehensive skincare strategy with you to help achieve longer-lasting results.
